Azimut Magellano 27M: crafting a new voyage experience

The Magellano 27M, like the eponymous series, redefines the philosophy of long‑distance cruising. Here, the spirit of exploration blends seamlessly with the tranquillity and elegance of life at sea, while the crossover’s seafaring capabilities are underscored by an interior designed around light, wood, and a deep connection with nature.The exterior was crafted by Finnish designer Jarkko Jämsén, while the interiors mark AMDL CIRCLE’s and Michele De Lucchi’s debut in yacht design.

Their shared vision is to create a vessel with a distinctive character where technical precision harmonises with organic fluidity. At the heart of the exterior lies the concept of pure form: rather than dominating the surroundings, it enters into a dialogue with them. The surfaces of the hull and superstructure mirror the sea, sky, and shifting light. Straight angles, precise dimensions, and meticulous geometry coexist with complex curvilinear shapes - soft, pliable forms that let light constantly redefine the yacht’s appearance.

Seamless Space: Interior Blending with the Sea

The main deck reveals the project’s defining feature: instead of a conventional separation between interior and exterior, there is a grand seaside loggia - a glazed space flooded with natural light and accentuated by wooden architectural elements. The boundary between inside and out becomes almost symbolic: the seascape becomes part of everyday life, and the architecture doesn’t isolate the person from the sea but gently envelops them. Light plays a pivotal role here. It flows freely through the large windows, while the light‑toned wood on walls, ceilings, and furniture softens and warms it. Metal adds the necessary precision, maintaining the balance between natural materials and architectural rigour.

Despite its refined elegance, the Magellano 27M remains true to its original calling as a true ocean voyager. Its fast displacement Dual Mode hull is engineered for extended passages, and two engines delivering a combined power of 2,800 or 3,300 hp enable a top speed of 21–24 knots, with a cruising speed of 16–18 knots respectively. The yacht accommodates 10 guests in 5 cabins and 3 crew members in 2 cabins.

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of this yacht is how it transforms the very notion of travel. Underway, it remains a serious vessel built for long‑range journeys; at anchor, it metamorphoses into a sophisticated architectural space where the sea becomes an integral part of the interior. There’s no need to choose between seafaring performance and comfort — here, one naturally flows into the other.
